Membership to the Fernie Child Care Society is a one-time, lifetime family membership/society fee of $5. All clients of the FCCS are required to purchase a lifetime membership. 


We welcome new applicants to Fernie Child Care Society. When a full‐time or part-time application is received it is placed onto our waitlist. While our goal is to provide child care for as many families as possible, our wait list does NOT operate on a “first come, first serve basis.” When a spot becomes available it is offered to those on our waitlist based on the follow priorities, in this order: 

  1. Children already enrolled with FCCS in the Infant-Toddler program who are ready to move to the Kindergarten Readiness program. 

  2. Children who are already enrolled with FCCS, who are waitlisted to increase their time on a permanent basis.

  3. Siblings of children currently enrolled in a program with FCCS

  4. Children returning after an absence of no more than 12 months due to a parent's maternal or paternal leave or serious family illness. 

  5. Children of the staff at FCCS.

  6. Children from the community and area to which the above groups do not apply. 



Important notes before you apply:​

  • Review the information about how our waitlist works (see above).

  • Complete one application per child.

  • Application fee is $25 per child.

  • Fill the e-form below and send an e-transfer for the waitlist fee to electronically to our Manager at or print and drop off your completed application form and fee to FCCS at 44 Mt. Washburn St. Cheques payable to Fernie Child Care Society.

  • Current operational hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 - 16:45. Closed all statutory holidays.
